26/11/2007 - CamIO To Complement MOBOTIX Camera Systems

Kaiserslautern, November 26, 2007. MOBOTIX AG, a manufacturer of digital high-resolution and network-based video security systems, has launched a new input/output module named CamIO that is an ideal platform for access control. Whereas bell buttons or alarm contacts, for example, can be connected to the two switching inputs, it is possible to control a door opener and an external light via the switching outputs. Communication takes place via an Internet browser or a VoIP telephone connection to the camera.

Two-way image- and sound-based communication with a VoIP telephone or a softphone on the PC is supported as standard by the network cameras from MOBOTIX. Camera events – such as switching contact, motion in the image or volume of sound – automatically trigger alarm messages via VoIP. Users can press the VoIP phone's numeric keys to look up events, zoom in on the image or enable switching outputs so that, for example, it is possible to open doors or turn on lights.

The CamIO for the M12 camera series has been certified by VDE (German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) since October 2007 and can handle loads of up to 500 W or 230 V. The large integrated loudspeaker, door opener relay and two button inputs mean that users can, for instance, easily equip entrances to remote buildings with a video door station. Power is supplied either via the network cable (PoE) or locally at 230 V.
