Mobotix and Davis weather station
Friday, 19 May 2006 12:11:06 pm
Hello,
I'd like to connect my Mobotix M10 d43 to a Vantage Pro weather station.
Someone of you have already tried to do this? Do you have some instructions?
Thank you,
Simone

Mobotix + Davis
Thursday, 29 June 2006 12:34:59 pm
Hello Simone,
This guy has given good instructions at http://www.windfinder.com/wind/webcam_en.htm
The weather data are embed at the image. This way you cannot use it for other purpose.
You can also FTP the weather data as binary ( what is read from weather link) to a server, however, I have not found a solution yet
how to convert the binary file to a readable weather data file.
Any help by someone?

Both weather info in camera and to weatherlink
Tuesday, 16 October 2007 8:29:56 am
We have a solution to show weather information in the camera+weatherlink and in our own design webb page. We only use one vp 2 to do this.
We can also do remote reading the weatherstation
If you are looking for this type of solution we have it.

Complete instructions for Vantage Pro and M12D
Tuesday, 08 July 2008 9:15:45 pm
1. Order the WeatherLink Data Logger for Vantage Pro from Davis (part #06510SER).
2. You must make an adapter to connect the WeatherLink cable to the camera. You will need a male 15-pin connector to connect to the camera. The other end of your adapter can be either a 9-pin male connector to connect to the 9-pin RJ11 adapter that comes with the WeatherLink cable or an RJ11 connector.
Pinout for creating a 9-pin to 15-pin adapter:
D-sub 9 M12D
1 --DCD--
2 --RxD-------RxD-- 2
3 --TxD-------TxD-- 3
4 --DTR--
5 --GND-------GND-- 5
6 --DSR--
7 --RTS-------RTS-- 7
8 --CTS-------CTS-- 8
9 --RING-
Pinout for creating your own RJ11 adapter:
RJ11 M12D
1 ------
2 --VCC--
3 --GND-------GND-- 5
4 --TxD--. ,--TxD-- 3
X
5 --RxD--' `--RxD-- 2
6 -------
,--RTS-- 7
|
`--CTS-- 9
3. In the camera administration, set up the serial interface for weather. The speed must match the baud rate of your weather console. The console's baud rate is 19200 by default. The Vantage Pro weather station does not send data autonomously, so you must choose a refresh interval.
4. To display weather information in the camera's output, type the text and variables you want to show in the text box. Otherwise, set up the raw data log and FTP settings to save the weather station's data.

RJ-11 to 15pin Adapter
Friday, 30 January 2009 11:22:18 am
Hi Darren Oh!
Thanx so much for your help - but there are some questions I cannot resolve:
RJ11 M12D
1 ------
2 --VCC--
3 --GND-------GND-- 5
4 --TxD--. ,--TxD-- 3
X
5 --RxD--' `--RxD-- 2
6 -------
,--RTS-- 7
|
`--CTS-- 9
=> I have to bridge Pin #7 and #9 on the 15pin male connector?
=> what does pin #2 mean with VCC?
Which colors do these cables have?
I've got -black,red,green,yellow- on the RJ11 cable from Weatherlink...
If you or somebody less ignorant than me could explain exactly what I have to do with the colors of the cables, that would help a lot
Explanation in German would be fine also....

I just found the (very easy solution) to connect the Weatherlink with the Mobotix 15pin serial connector
Friday, 30 January 2009 12:16:34 pm
15-Pin-Plug (you need only the first row of the 15pins):
This is how you have to solder the connector:
Pin#
1
2 ---- green cable
3 ---- yellow cable
4
5 ---- red cable
Enjoy & thanks for your help guys! )

I realize it has been years since you have asked this but I noticed there isnt a lot of information out there on the subject.
You can connect a davis station to the camera via the cameras serial port (if it has one) or to the cameras usb port (via a usb to serial adapter)
You can also have the weather information that is hosted on the web from your davis station displayed in your camera image by having a php script embed the data from your weather station.
