07/30/2010 - New Hemispheric T24 IP Video Door Station From MOBOTIX

At this year's Light+Building Exhibition in Frankfurt am Main, MOBOTIX will exhibit an innovative, powerful IP Video Door Station that is easy to install.

Langmeil, Germany, April 13, 2010. MOBOTIX, the manufacturer of complete high-resolution IP video systems, will present its first IP Video Door Station, the T24, at the world’s leading trade fair for architecture and technology. The new line of products with a hemispheric lens offers a solution that has never been available to the market until now.

The new IP Video Door Station, the T24, captures the entire entrance area without any blind spots, from wall to wall, floor to ceiling. Traditional door cameras often only record visitors when they are standing directly in front of the lens. The fisheye lens displays the events in front of the lens as a 360° full image without any blind spots. Using the integrated image correction software, the image is corrected in the live view and sent to the remote video station. The image section can then be digitally tilted, panned or zoomed. The T24 is based on the international video telephony standard VoIP/SIP and H.264.

Two-Way Video Around The World
When the doorbell rings, a connection is established with a VoIP video phone, a standard computer or a tablet computer via the network. It is then possible to gain audio and video access to the door station from anywhere in the world. This means that the door can also be opened remotely.

Keyless Access
The MOBOTIX access module, which can also be used independently, serves as the professional access control by entering a PIN code or by means of an RFID transponder. The module communicates directly with the security door opener via MxBus and can be programmed with a time control. The security door opener indoors makes it impossible to open the door by forcibly removing it and bypassing the connecting cable. A built-in battery also guarantees that the door can be securely locked and unlocked in the case of a power failure.

Integrated Message Function
Digital voice messages can be left at the door station and accessed later. This means that notices of absences can be automatically played back when a visitor rings the doorbell, video messages with sound can be left at the door station and personal messages can be recorded for a specific person.

Decentralized MOBOTIX Concept
Events outside the building's door can be automatically recorded continuously or event controlled with lip-synchronized sound on an integrated memory. The decentralized processing and storing in the camera reduces the required bandwidth to a minimum and significantly cuts system costs.

Fast, Simple Installation
The IP Video Door Station is connected to the network and supplied with power via an Ethernet cable, or alternatively using the Mx2wire extension set via two bell wires. By adding a high-resolution MOBOTIX camera, an existing door bell or simple door intercom can be transformed into a multi-functional access control system with little effort.

User-friendly Operation
The convenient MxEasy software was developed by MOBOTIX specifically for simple and user-friendly operation. Any computer can quickly become a multi-functional T24 remote station with intuitive user interface.

Order A Customized T24
The T24 product line is a modular system that can be adapted to suit the customer’s individual wishes as required. The system is therefore suitable for both private and commercial use. The weatherproof outdoor station (IP65, suitable for temperatures ranging from -30°C to +60°C, -22°F to 140°F) is available in four colors: white, silver, dark gray and amber. Furthermore, the hemispheric camera module is also suitable for use with the Siedle Vario system. The individual Siedle modules are integrated into a specially developed MOBOTIX IO terminal board.

On July 15, 2010, the management board of MOBOTIX AG (ISIN DE0005218309) has approved a share buyback program, starting on July 19, 2010, to repurchase 15,000 of the Company's shares. This represents around 0.34 percent of the Company's share capital. The management board is thereby exercising the authorization granted by MOBOTIX shareholders at the General Shareholders' meeting on September 30, 2009, pursuant to section 71 (1) no. 8 German Stock Corporation Act (AktG). The buyback program does not have a fixed term, but will end automatically once the aforementioned number of shares is reached.

The shares will be purchased exclusively via the stock market. According to the authorization from the General Shareholders' meeting on September 30, 2009, the price per share paid by the Company (excluding ancillary transaction costs) must not be more than 10 percent above or below the market price determined by the opening auction via the Xetra trading system (or a similar successor system) for the Company's shares on the respective trading day on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The repurchased shares may be used for any and all purposes specified in the authorization granted by shareholders. Specifically, a proposal to issue shares to employees and members of the management board is currently under consideration, in accordance with the authorization granted at the General Shareholders' meeting on September 30, 2009. The final decision concerning utilization of the shares shall be taken on a case-by-case basis by special resolution of the management board and, if required, the supervisory board.

The share buyback will be led by a bank. The Company has instructed the bank to ensure that these measures are carried out in accordance with the trading conditions set forth in Article 5 of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 2273/2003 of December 22, 2003 implementing Directive 2003/6/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards to exemptions for buyback programs and stabilization of financial instruments (OJ EU No. L 336/33 of December 23, 2003), hereinafter referred to as 'EC Regulation', and the provisions of this stock buyback program. The Company has also instructed the bank to provide it with the information necessary to ensure that the Company can comply with the disclosure requirements imposed upon it by the EC Regulation. The decisions on the timing and volume of the share buyback will be taken by the Bank alone and these decisions will not be influenced by the Company.

According to the EC Regulation, the Company may not, on any single day, buy back more than 25 percent of the average daily trading volume of the share on the regulated market on which the shares are to be repurchased. This figure is worked out on the basis of the average daily trading volume on the 20 trading days prior to the respective purchase date.

The Company will not buy the shares at a price above the last independently performed transaction or (if higher) above the highest current independent bid on the trading exchanges on which the shares are to be purchased.

The buyback program may be suspended at any time if required, so far as is permitted by law.

The transactions will be publicly announced in accordance with the EC Regulation; MOBOTIX AG will provide regular information on the progress of the share buyback program at www.mobotix.com.

04/21/2010 - Live Images From The Icelandic Volcano Eyjafjallajökull

It is not easy to pronounce, yet Eyjafjallajökull volcano has been the most broadcast news topic since last Wednesday, with almost everyone being affected one way or the other. Thousands of passengers are stranded at European airports, exports and imports have declined sharply and the resulting economic fallout is yet unknown. But it is not all just bad news. Deutsche Bahn (German rail) passenger numbers have skyrocketed and bus companies have substantially increased their fleets, along with their prices. Ask any car rental company, taxi driver or anyone who lives under a flight path and they tell you that they would be happy if the volcano continued to erupt.

Opinions are also divided in the media. While Eyjafjallajökull is said to be "easing" by one source, another reports that ash from the volcano will continue. Some volcanologists are even warning that these eruptions could provoke the neighboring volcano, Katla, which would be far more explosive. However, there are no signs of this as yet.

Things will remain fascinating. One thing is clear though: The four MOBOTIX M24 and D12 cameras that are installed right in the heart of the action by MOBOTIX partner Mila will provide you with the latest images from Eyjafjallajökull.

03/23/2010 - MOBOTIX Brings Decentralized High Resolution IP Video Security To Fastest Growing Global Market

Number One Global High-Resolution Video Surveillance Company Appoints New Leadership in Americas, Enhances Product Offering and Expands Industry Reach

NEW YORK, March 23, 2010 – MOBOTIX, a technology leader and system provider of digital high-resolution network-based video security systems, today announced its intent to expand sales and distribution channels in the U.S. market by growing its base of integrator and reseller partners, introducing new camera functionalities and targeting a broader group of vertical industries including retail, transportation and small-to-medium sized businesses. Through these efforts, MOBOTIX is looking at 2010 as the year to drive increased U.S. adoption of its industry-leading video surveillance systems, including the new night-version of the Q24 hemispheric camera.
Alastair Hayfiled, research manager for IMS Research, commented: "Mobotix has continued to exhibit strong performance, despite the economic downturn. Globally, its share of the megapixel surveillance camera market is close to 40 percent. Mobotix continues to have a strong presence in Europe and captures share in the Americas."
"The worldwide video surveillance industry has begun to understand and embrace the technology superiority and cost savings associated with the switch from analog to IP network security systems – and the U.S. is primed to become a high-growth market over the next several years," said Steve Gorski, the newly-appointed general manager of the Americas for MOBOTIX. "At the dawn of IP-based video surveillance more than 10 years ago, MOBOTIX created the first decentralized IP camera solution and we are now seeing the fruits of that innovation, unlocking the full capability of high-resolution video security and bringing this expanded functionality and value to new and existing customers and partners in the United States."
"According to IMS Research, the industry is quickly realizing the user benefits associated with IP video surveillance, and worldwide growth rates for this technology are likely to exceed 15 percent in 2010," said Hayfield.
However, when it comes to future-proof video surveillance systems, MOBOTIX believes that the key differentiator lies beyond the transition from analog to digital, but in the capability to harness the full spectrum of high-resolution imagery.

Growth of High-Resolution IP Video Surveillance
Currently in the U.S., market share for high-resolution IP cameras are below 30 percent. This is largely due to the inability of existing CCTV networks to cope with high-bandwidth loads associated with sending large megapixel images from a camera to a central processing system. The answer to overcoming bandwidth concerns while still delivering high-resolution video for security surveillance is to abandon the centralized model widely used as the current standard for U.S. CCTV systems.
"MOBOTIX will further invest into the Americas market in terms of financial and human resources. We have the clear goal to increase our market share in the very near future," said Dr. Ralf Hinkel, CEO of MOBOTIX AG.
With the decentralized MOBOTIX concept, a high-speed computer and, if requested, digital memory (SD/MicroSD card) is built into every camera for long-term recording. The PC now serves purely for viewing, not for analysis or recording. As a result, MOBOTIX cameras can record in response to an event even without the PC being switched on and digitally store the videos with sound.

The Q24 Hemispheric Camera Solution
MOBOTIX is the only company to offer this kind of highly efficient hemispheric video surveillance cameras based on the decentralized concept. The security benefit and cost reduction of this new technology is enormous, as a hemispheric camera delivers 360° room coverage and still allows using the integrated Pan/Tilt/Zoom features to examine interesting parts of a scene. The new panorama function with its high-resolution 180° wide-angle view assures a quick understanding of the whole scene, tracks objects continuously and replaces a set of conventional cameras.
With the innovative MOBOTIX Hemispheric Technology, an entire room can be ideally monitored. Priced at $ 798.00, one MOBOTIX Q24 hemispheric camera replaces the time-consuming and expensive installation of several standard cameras, passing on significant cost savings to the end user.
This world novelty demonstrates again the innovative strength of MOBOTIX as a global leader for megapixel video security systems.
When several cameras are monitoring a single room, it is difficult to understand the room layout in its single view. This makes it hard to comprehend the overall setting. The new panorama function of the Q24 delivers a widescreen image of a high-resolution 180° panorama view.
New for 2010 is a night-version of the Q24 – perfect use at night by incorporating a black and white sensor for after-hours surveillance.

01/29/2010 - New Multi-Functional HiRes M24M Camera From MOBOTIX

High-resolution 3.1 megapixel video system with hemispheric version, lip-synchronous sound and robust, fully weatherproof housing (IP66)

Langmeil, Germany, January 2010. MOBOTIX, manufacturer of complete, high-resolution IP video systems, presents the new M24M Allround camera. This successor to the very successful M22M has a new microprocessor and a modified system platform, which enables smooth video frame rates of up to 30 fps, even at a megapixel resolution.

Five interchangeable lenses with image angles ranging from 15° to 90° are available for the M24M. The 90° wide-angle lens allows an entire room to be monitored from just one corner. A 15° Telephoto lens enables the camera to clearly record a license plate number from a distance of approximately 75 meters. Or even the serial number of a bill from a distance of two meters.

Should the camera be used in constantly changing locations, for example, in mobile surveillance at construction sites, we recommend installing the version with CS mounts and manually adjustable Vario lenses. MOBOTIX also offers night versions with a particularly light-sensitive B/W image sensor for use in poor lighting conditions.

The M24M can also be configured for high-resolution, distortion-free panorama images using a hemispheric L11 lens (180° fisheye), digital PTZ and special MOBOTIX software. This makes it ideal for use in webcam applications that stand out from the crowd.

The M24M can be installed in just a few minutes and rotated to the desired tilt angle using the standard, flexibly adjustable VarioFlex Wall and Ceiling Mount. The weatherproof camera (IP66) can operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +60°C (-22°F to +140°F) and does not require a heater or a fan.

Thanks to the high-quality microphone/speaker combination, which eliminates echoes during hands-free operation, the camera can transmit lip-synchronous sound alongside high-resolution video and can record on a 4 GB MicroSD card integrated as standard. MicroSD cards of up to 32 GB are also supported.

The digital IP camera can be connected to a PC or router/switch with an Ethernet cable, which just as easy as connecting a printer. The same cable simultaneously supplies power to the camera according to the PoE standard. It is possible to access the live images and recordings remotely via an encrypted Internet connection.

The M24M Allround is available to order from the MOBOTIX online shop starting at 598 Euro net, fully ready for operation, including a lens, video management software and 4 GB storage card for over 60,000 VGA event images. The M24M-Sec with hemispheric panorama lens, 4 GB storage and complete software is available for 858 Euro net.
