With the Q22 hemispheric camera, MOBOTIX presented for the first time at the CeBIT 2008, an unobtrusive, discreet dome camera with 360° allround view. The production of the cameras has already started successfully, and deliveries to customers are now ongoing.

One single Q22 can view all corners of a room with its special hemispheric lens. The “fish-eye effect”, typical for this kind of lens, can be digitally corrected in the live images. The built-in digital pan-tilt-zoom feature allows the user to smoothly maneuver within the whole area being observed, without any mechanically moving parts. This feature is made possible by the high-performance software and by the high resolution of the 3 megapixel technology from MOBOTIX that enables the image area to be enlarged up to eight times, while still maintaining detail sharpness. Another highlight is the event-controlled 360° recording of up to 16 GB directly in the camera on the SD card. Thus, each relevant detail can be zoomed into even during recording. Each Q22-Secure camera comes equipped with a 1 GB SD card.

MOBOTIX to expect further outstanding growth

Kaiserslautern, June 17, 2008. --- In a market segment where analog technology is quickly being replaced by IP video systems, Mobotix, a leading international manufacturer of digital, high-resolution and network-based video security systems, has far better growth prospects than most of its competitors since Mobotix decided not to offer any standard IP cameras, but to focus exclusively on high-resolution, complete systems. In the decentralised system structure established years ago by Mobotix, the intelligence resides in the cameras themselves and not on a central PC. This enables Mobotix video systems to work with fewer cameras and system components, making them considerably more cost-effective than analog systems. For example: one single Mobotix camera can monitor an entire gas station with four lanes, recording the video for a full day in the camera itself. The complete system, including the camera and integrated software, recording and weatherproofing, costs less than € 1,000 – significantly undercutting the price of an analog system.

Shenzhen/Kaiserslautern, July 2008 --- The Chinese company China Security & Surveillance Technology Inc. (CSST) and the German company Mobotix AG from Kaiserslautern, a technology leader for high-resolution network cameras, have arranged a distribution partnership. The agreement signed in April 2008 grants CSST distribution rights for Mobotix products in the entire People’s Republic of China.

The partnership with the Chinese market-leading specialists for the engineering, setup and maintenance of video surveillance systems promises Mobotix an additional share of the increasingly important Chinese market. The founder and CEO of CSST, Guoshen Tu, expressed as being very pleased about the future cooperation: “We look forward to developing a strong relationship with Mobotix moving forward. This agreement further demonstrates that international brands continue to recognize CSST’s market position in China and its ability to provide a one-stop-shop solution to its clients. This agreement will allow CSST’s distribution and system integration operating segments to offer a more comprehensive solution to its growing customer base. Working closely with CSST will enable Mobotix to work with a strong China-based partner to distribute their products in a rapidly growing market. We are pleased to cooperate with a well established technology company and look forward to increased cooperation with international companies in the future.”

Ports In Panama Are Safer Harbors Thanks To MOBOTIX Cameras

Two of the most important ports of the Panama Ports Company (PPC) will from now on be protected by MOBOTIX cameras: the container harbors Balboa and Cristobal (both in Panama). The local MOBOTIX partner, Mutitek, installed a system with more than 50 M12 DualNight cameras.

The decisive factor for the MOBOTIX cameras was especially their robustness since they operate even in an ocean climate with very little maintenance. In addition, MOBOTIX combines a high image resolution with an internal loudspeaker and microphone, thus fulfilling important safety requirements so that the cameras can also be used to warn employees of dangerous situations. Using MOBOTIX system, the total number of cameras needed was reduced significantly in comparison to an analog system.

"When we saw the images from a MOBOTIX camera for the first time, it was like watching a DVD – the images were so clear. This sort of quality has become an absolute necessity in our sector", explained Michael Hernandez, Chief Investment Officer of PPC. Those were the main reasons for choosing MOBOTIX. He adds: "It is not enough to see what is going on – we also have to be able to hear it. Our entire safety depends on these two features."

IMS Research Study: Mobotix advances to No. 4 worldwide and increases market share in EMEA to 16.3 per cent (No. 2)

The result of a recent study on the video surveillance market done by market research specialist IMS Research* shows that Mobotix, a manufacturer of digital, high-resolution and network-based video security systems, was able to increase the share of the EMEA market in 2006 by 3.7 percentage points compared to the previous year. With this, Mobotix occupies the second place in the market share with 16,3 per cent, right behind Axis.
Mobotix also managed to gain global market share, rising to fourth place in the network camera manufacturer rankings with a market share of 6.6 per cent, behind Axis, Sony and Panasonic. This makes the Kaiserslautern-based camera specialist one of only four companies around the globe to increase its share of the market.

Strong growth predicted for megapixel cameras

The IMS study confirmed that the entire industry is undergoing a period of sustained growth. The market for network cameras is set to increase by an average of 40.1 per cent annually between 2006 and 2011, with the market for network video surveillance software not far behind at 35.8 per cent, according to IMS Research. As a complete solution provider, Mobotix serves both markets, unlike its rival camera manufacturers. Digital network cameras will continue to win against the analog surveillance cameras in the coming years. Fix-dome models are enjoying particular popularity, and in the past two years, Mobotix has successfully launched two new fixed-dome product lines, the D12 and D22 dome cameras.
IMS is forecasting up to year 2011 even healthier growth for the megapixel camera market, in which Mobotix has been active for years already. The big advantage of megapixel technology is that more detail can be recorded with fewer cameras. Not only does this save costs, but it also enhances the systems’ visual impact in buildings with elaborate architecture. Megapixel technology is where Mobotix strengths are: all of its camera models have featured this technology for years, and now since October 2007, the cameras are equipped with 3.1 megapixels. An unofficial estimate by IMS Research lists Mobotix as the global market leader in high-resolution network camera technology with a market share of over 60 per cent.
