Viewing on iphone and ipad
Vendredi 13 Août 2010 1:25:25 pm
As mobotix does not seem to do much in the iphone/ipad arena I did some research myself. On the Iphone I use Mobotix Cams. Works nice and all my camera's are recognized (D12, D24 and M24). Disadvantage is that you can only view one camera at a time.
For Ipad I use UnetCams. Also works fine with all my camera's and I can see 6 live images in one page. More camera's can be viewed by swiping pages. Performance is great. For Mobotix you can only select JPEG and choose between three image qualities (QVGA, VGA, SVGA). VGA seems to be the best option because frame rate is ok (between 1-2 sec with 6 camera's on page) and resolution is ok. Higher resultion with SVGA looks better but the frame rate goes down and the app crashed when I used SVGA for more than one camera.
I have got one problem with UnetCams: Two of my camera's are rotated, one 90 degrees and one 180 degrees. This is compensated in the software of the camera, but this is not recognized in UnetCams, so I have to watch one camera sideways and one upside down
I would be happy to hear about other users experiences on iphone/ipad and I am waiting for the first app that can handle a ip video call from the T24, including video, audio and door opening, preferably integrated in the camera monitor app. All the ingredients are available since the multi-tasking OS arrived, but I see no apps yet.

Similar experience
Dimanche 15 Août 2010 10:50:25 pm
Hello my brothers, I'm feeling the same pain right now.
So far, before finding this thread, I have just made homescreen shortcuts to view mobotix' web interface in the guest screen that default to lower fps and without all the button clutters. That worked okay, albeit slower to load and I can only view 1 camera at a time with a bit of clumsy shuffling when I switch to different cameras. The advantage is that I can make use of high resolution images and pinch-zoom to my heart's content.
Unfortunately there is a bug that stops live image update after 20-40 seconds. This happens on both my iPhone and iPad. Mobotix' support dismissed this issue, citing it's Apple's problem. *shrugs*
Upon reading the reply in this thread, I went ahead and purchased uNetCams for my iPad and LiveCams (mentioned in a different thread) for my iPhone 3GS.
Unfortunately neither is a homerun for me.
uNetCams works for my D22s but fail miserably on my Q24s.
LiveCams works, kinda, but really slowly.
So here's hoping for a tablet\phone friendly app. There are LOADS of iphone and ipads out there, please let us make use of these great portable slates to monitor the beloved mobotix cameras!

New ipad app
Lundi 23 Août 2010 11:26:34 pm
Nice to see people sharing their experiences. Perhaps it motivates apps builders in developing their apps.
Things are moving fast inthe apple world. I found out today that Mobotix Cams provides a big update. This makes it possible to view 6 camera's live together in one screen and it works on Iphone and Ipad! You can synchonize the app for free if you aleady bought it for iphone. It also solved my problem with UnetCams of not compensation rotations of the camera and provides more information of the camera (lux value, alarm status, etc). The only disadvantage against UnetCams is the lack of layout control. This makes the UnetCam app better looking. But than again UnetCams costs more than 5 times the amount of Mobotix cams and they don't seem to bother about the specific mobotix problems. I also expect hemisferic camera's to work with Moboticx Cams but I can't test this.

Mobotix camera stream stops after 1min on iPhone & iPad
Mardi 24 Août 2010 12:31:11 am
Hi,
so I'm not alone. I also have the problem that my stream stops after about 1min on iPhone and iPad. I've also been told from Mobotix they have to iPad to test(???) and they couldn't do anything.
That's really sad as the iPad is very cool for home automation. I have mine installed in the lobby and watch the front door. I plan to also have buttons to open the door and initiate talk. All done in my browser (Mobile Safari).
Too sad Mobotix won't investigate this.

Is there some way to get audio for the t24 or.sec. Models? Maybe through safari?
Is there some voip easy way to provide a simple user interface? Maybe even wireless?
Mobotix has got to have a way to easily use a t24

Iphone App that works great
Vendredi 26 Août 2011 2:17:40 am
I was looking for an app that will work for the Iphone as well as the Ipad. I am very happy with Mobotix Viewer by eyespyfx. It is a paid app but it works very nice with my cameras.
A free app that works well is Netcamviewer. It looks ok but you can add only so many cameras before it will ask you to pay( I think is about 2 cameras) In Netcamviewer you can group cameras so that was a nice feature since I have multiple sites that have multiple cameras.
Hope this helps.
