Overvoltage or overheating can occur during electrical charging. While detection using video technology is uncommon for passenger cars because the battery is located under the vehicle, it is helpful for vehicles with larger or external energy storage devices. Overheating when charging buses (public transport, coaches) with the battery on the roof can be detected. Thus, thermal video technology can effectively support fire protection. Usually, you monitor the charging of busses in the depot- and along the line networks (public transport) at the high-speed charging stations.

Deep discharge, overcharging or overheating are key hazards for energy storage devices used at e-fueling stations and charging stations. Battery fires can quickly lead to massive chain reactions (thermal runaway).
