Selecting lens

Sabato, 03 Gennaio 2009 20:30:24

I use "ip video design tool". You can find it here:
http://www.jvsg.com

It perfectly works with Mobotix cameras. For M22 and M12 cameras you need to select "1/2" as a Sensor Format . Then enter distance, camera installation height and target width.

Software calculates focal length, angles and shows small 3D preview.

ps: Also it can calculate HDD storage space and network bandwidth, but as far as I know it doesn't support MxPEG yet.

HDD and bandwidth calculation

Giovedì, 05 Febbraio 2009 18:19:40

If you use the settings within JVSG for MPEG4, it gives a good approximation for MXPEG storage and bandwidth usage.

Also, you must purchase the software - the free version doesn't let you calculate lenses for 1/2" sensors.

Floor plans and site plan import

Lunedì, 15 Febbraio 2010 20:17:40

IP Video System Design Tool 6 supports import of background images JPEG and BMP files.

So it is quite easy to import floor plans from Autodesk Autocad or Visio as well as to load site plan image from Google Earth and then check real camera coverage in 3D for given lens focal length and camera installation height.

Oh! Now the free version lets you to calculate lenses for 1/2" CCD sensors and other sensor formats as well.

There is no limitation on bandwidth/storage calculation either.
