The MOBOTIX HUB is an open video management platform (VMP) for businesses of all types and sizes. It enables the integration of security and analysis cameras, access control systems, security systems, environmental sensors, software and hardware interfaces to industrial plants and many more, in a common control and user interface – centrally, clearly and user-friendly. MOBOTIX IoT cameras, like many IP cameras from other manufacturers, can be integrated into the system via device-specific drivers or via the ONVIF standard.

The flexible, scalable system is available in five different variants: from the free L1 (End of Live of the L1) version for small installations with up to eight cameras to the L5 variant, which enables highly distributed enterprise solutions for several thousand devices to be implemented.

The following document provides information about the system requirements, installation, and specific features of each version of MOBOTIX HUB.

System Requirements

MOBOTIX HUB is suitable for installation and operation on Windows systems. The computers used must meet certain system requirements for the following software and hardware components:

Windows operating system (Pro, Enterprise, or Server Edition)
Microsoft SQL-Server
.NET Framework
CPU
RAM
Network card
Disk space
Graphics cards and graphics accelerators
MOBOTIX HUB Advanced Services is required to use push notifications

Depending on the variant used (L1 to L5) of the MOBOTIX HUB, there are differences in these requirements. A detailed description of the system requirements for the different variants is available on the MOBOTIX website below Services > Download Center > Marketing & Documentation > User Manuals > Video Management Systems > MOBOTIX HUB in the document MOBOTIX HUB System Requirements.

Additions to the system requirements

If you install the MOBOTIX HUB with the Single Computer option, NO Microsoft SQL Server has to be installeed already on the system. If desired, this will be installed by the HUB installer.
The specified "Microsoft® .NET 4.7.2 Framework" is already installed on a current Windows 10 system. This can be verified by using the Version entry of the Windows Registry Key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft NET Framework\Setup\NDP\v4\Client.
The "Microsoft® .NET Core 2.1.21" listed in the system requirements is also installed by the HUB installer.

Recommandation

For the optimal usage of the MOBOTIX HUB with MOBOTIX cameras we recommend to install always the MOBOTIX HUB Plug-Ins and the MOBOTIX Driver. This provide a better Forensic Search and support the configuration of the MOBOTIX cameras, beside the other advance dashboards. More infos available under MOBOTIX PLUG INs and MOBOTIX HUB Driver

Supported camera models

The following MOBOTIX camera models can be integrated into MOBOTIX HUB via device-specific drivers:

MOBOTIX ONE cameras with firmware versions 8.x
MOBOTIX 7 (P7) cameras with firmware versions 7.x
MOBOTIX Mx6 (P6) cameras x16/x26 with firmware versions 5.x
MOBOTIX P3 cameras x14/x24/x15/x25, T24M/T25M with firmware versions 4.x
MOBOTIX P2 Cameras x12/x22

For MOBOTIX Cameras we recommend to intall the follow Drivers to get the best performance and support

MOBOTIX HUB Driver - for MOBOTIX IOT Range like P6/P7/ONE and for all MOVE cameras MOBOTIX HUB Driver
MOBOTIX HUB DriverInstaller - for all former MOBOTIX P2 and P3 cameras

Only for special cases in the former IOT Models like P2/P3 a Integration via the standard ONVIF Driver is required. For all new Cameras P6/P7/ONE and MOVE the MOBOTIX HUB Driver is the best choice. A list of all supported camera models can be viewed on the MOBOTIX website also in the download area of this software.

The current values for <Hub version>, <Plugin version>and <Driver version> are specified below specifically for the MOBOTIX HUB that is to be installed

The most important installation steps

The following is an overview of the basic procedure and the most important installation steps:

Download the required installation files from the MOBOTIX website
Review and ensure the system requirements
Run the installation file 'MOBOTIX_HUB_VMS_Products_<Hub version>_System_Installer.exe' with installation of the 'Management Server' on the designated computer

The license file (*.lic) provided by MOBOTIX after ordering the desired MOBOTIX HUB variant is required!
When installing as a "Single computer", all necessary server and client components are already installed here.

When you install a distributed system using the "Custom" option, install the other server components on the designated computers. In this case, the first installer running generates special files for this purpose during the installation process for each server component.
If needed, install "Desk Clients" on other Windows computers using the file 'MOBOTIX_HUB_Desk_Client_<Hub version>_Installer_x64.exe' or "MOBOTIX_HUB_Desk_Client_ <Hub version>_Installer.exe".
Install the MOBOTIX HUB DRIVER on the Management Server computer using the file 'MOBOTIX HUB Driver <Driver version/date>.exe' (Download it from the MOBOTIX Homepage).
Install the device-specific drivers on the Management Server computer using the file 'MOBOTIX_HUB_VMSDriverInstaller<Driver version>.exe'.
If needed, install a "Mobile Server" using the file 'MOBOTIX_HUB_MobileServer_<Hub version>_Installer_x64.exe' on any suitable Windows computer.
If required, install an "Open Network Bridge"using the 'MOBOTIX_HUB_VideoOS_OpenNetworkBridge_<Hub version>_Installer.exe' file on the same Windows computer on which the MOBOTIX HUB Management Server was installed.
When installing a HUB L1 variant and also when subsequently managing (adding/deleting) devices in such an installation, the server must be online and have unrestricted Internet access — or at least unrestricted access for outbound http/https requests to the MOBOTIX licensing servers.
When any changes that involve licensing have been saved, the HUB server will automatically contact the licensing servers to obtain the necessary device licenses. No site-specific or security related information will be transmitted during this time. For all other operations, the HUB server can be offline.
When installing a HUB variant L2 to L5 start the MOBOTIX HUB Management Client and perform an “activation” of the license by executing the following steps in the Basics > License Information section of the tree structure:

do an Online activation by entering the access data (name and password) for the MOBOTIX Partner Portal, or
do an Offline activation by creating a file for the license request (*.lrq), transmission of this file to the contact person at MOBOTIX Sales and import of the file (*.scl), subsequently received from MOBOTIX Sales for activation.

This completes the configuration and allows the system to be set up and configured. A detailed description of the above steps can be found on the MOBOTIX website under Services > Download Center > Marketing and Documentation > User Manuals > Video Management Systems > MOBOTIX HUB > Management Client. It is strongly recommended to pay close attention to the documentation Before you start installation and Install a new MOBOTIX HUB system contained therein before starting the installation of a new MOBOTIX HUB system!

Version 2025 R3 of MOBOTIX HUB

Changes compared to MOBOTIX HUB VMS Products 2025 R2

Support for AV1 video codec:

Supported in all functionalities as the rest of the supported codecs
AV1 decoding is supported with software and hardware accelerated with Nvidia graphic cards
It is not supported by Intel GPUs in this version
Axis camera manufacturer support AV1
Device Pack 13.9 or newer is required to be installed to get the Axis driver with AV1 support
Future support in other cameras will come as part of the Device Pack release
Desk Client 2025 R3 is required to view AV1 in Desk Client.

Audit records can now be sent to an external system using OTLP.

The capability to receive camera events to port 5432 was removed in the 2025 R1 release. It has now been enabled again but is disabled by default.

Changes compared to MOBOTIX HUB Management Client 2025 R2

The Management Client 2025 R3 installer no longer installs multiple old versions of the Management Client together with the current version. When Management Client 2025 R3 attempts to log in to an older server version for the first time, the user will be instructed on how to get that version of Management Client installed.

Changes compared to MOBOTIX HUB Desk Client 2025 R2

Desk Client is now released separately, and it is no longer part of the main VMS installer and must be downloaded separately.

Important notes:

When doing an installation there is no Desk Client on the Download page on the Management Server. It is possible to register a Desk Client installer using ‘–ss_registration’ if installing from the Download page is the desired means of installing individual clients

If doing an upgrade of a past version, e.g. a Single Server installation, and the Desk Client is part of the installation, upgrading to 2025 R3 will remove the Desk Client from the system where the main VMS installer is run, and will need to be installed separately.

Input unit plugins: We are releasing a new modernized input-unit plugin, supporting the AXIS Control Board T8310 & TU9001. The plugin will be released together with the Desk Client’s first independent release. The main difference in the new plugin is that all units are now configured in the Joysticks tab in Desk Client settings.

An option for Romanian language has been added to the Desk Client.

Since 2025 R2 we have released two minor releases of Mobile Clients, 2025 R2-2 and 2025 R2-3.

2025 R2-2 new features:

2025 R2-2 improvements to existing features:

The Pro Map has been moved to the main navigation (iOS) for better accessibility.
When opening Pro map on an iPad (iOS), the side navigation drawer will be hidden, to give more space to the map itself
Users will now receive a warning in the Access Control requests tab if notifications are turned off, as this means they won’t see access control requests (iOS). Previously released for Android.

2025 R2-3 only contained bug fixes for Android.

2025 R3 new features:

Option to mark any view or the “All Cameras” tab as default (iOS and Android). The selected default view will open automatically when opening the app and connecting to the server.
Users can check the status of their MOBOTIX HUB installations Advanced Sercvice (ASP) coverage directly in MOBOTIX HUB Mobile (iOS and Android). The feature requires a Mobile Server updated to 2025 R3 or later.
Users with active Advanced Sercvice coverage and push notifications enabled can receive reminders prior to and upon expiration of Advanced Sercvice (ASP).

2025 R3 improvements to existing features:

An option for Romanian language has been added to the Mobile Clients.
Users can more easily access Profile menu (iOS), as the user profile icon is shown in top left corner of all main screens.

2025 R3 new features:

Only allow external authentication: a new config file setting has been added to the Mobile Server config file: VideoOS.MobileServer.Service.exe.config. If “OnlyAllowExternalAuthentication” is set to True normal logins will always fail and only External IDP logins will be allowed. This applies to both the Web client and the Mobile Clients.
Note: If you use MOBOTIX HUB Access in conjunction with MOBOTIX HUB Mobile and want to use the new rolebased permissions for doors and access controls in MOBOTIX HUB Access, this feature is dependent on a 2025 R3 Mobile Server being deployed for these permissions to be enforced in MOBOTIX HUB Mobile for iOS and Android.

For AXIS Control Board T8310 & TU9001 a modernized input unit plugin will be released together with the next release of the Desk Client.

New in MOBOTIX HUB VMS 2025 R1

Support for the SCIM protocol

The 2025 R1 VMS release supports the SCIM specification, System for Cross-domain Identity Management. This enables automatic synchronization of users with an external identity provider.

As a result, changes to permissions take effect instantly, instead of at the next login. Automatic deletion of deactivated users is also supported. Configuration of SCIM in the VMS is done through the MIP SDK or via PowerShell scripts. Okta is supported in this VMS release.

Show Notification Badge on the Alarms tab in iOS and Android: It is now possible to see an indication that there have been new alarms on the alarm icon in the alarm tab in both iOS and Android.

We have added the possibility to add a date/timestamp and/or camera names as an overlay on the snapshot images created though these options on Desk Client view items:

The option is controlled through the Application tab in the Desk Client settings
Administrators can also control the availability of this option as well as it’s default setting through Desk Client profiles in the Management client (subject to availability of Desk Client profiles in your VMS system).

New Text and image view item

We have introduced a new view item that can contain both text and images, that replaces the old distinct view items
The main VMS installer will update configuration from the old version of these, so it will automatically work after an upgrade.
Pro Maps now support access control units, enabling operators to monitor and interact with access points directly from the map with their exact geolocation.

Changes compared to MOBOTIX HUB Mobile 2025 R1

MOBOTIX HUB Mobile clients for iOS and Android are now released independently of the main MOBOTIX HUB releases. Since 2025 R1 we have released 2025 R1-2 which contains the following changes:

UI letterbox optimization (iOS / Android): restrict the user interface to a certain width to preserve its original aspect ratio. This way, the interface does not become distorted or stretched when adapting to larger screen sizes.
Date & time format (iOS / Android): time and date formats now follow the preferences set by the user on the operating system level.
Segmented buttons (Android): Bookmarks, Alarms, Access Control and Investigations have gotten a new design with segmented buttons for easier access.
Picture-in-picture navigation (Android): It is now possible to use the picture-in-picture feature, when on Android devices, that uses gesture navigation, instead of only using 3-button navigation.
Message in Access Control requests if notifications are turned off (Android): Users will receive a warning in the Access Control requests tab if notifications are turned off, as this means they won’t see access control requests.

The MOBOTIX HUB Update Manager is a tool that helps you keep your distributed MOBOTIX HUB VMS up to date by downloading, distributing, and installing MOBOTIX HUB hotfixes.

It consists of the following elements:

MOBOTIX HUB Update Manager server

An update server that downloads and distributes hotfixes.

MOBOTIX HUB Update Manager agent.

An endpoint agent that collects information about the MOBOTIX HUB components, reports to the update server and installs the updates on the endpoint computer.

MOBOTIX HUB Update Manager client

A desktop application that provides an interface to view and update the MOBOTIX HUB components.

The MOBOTIX HUB Update Manager supports all versions of MOBOTIX HUB VMS.

The DSA-1024 algorithm for signing video has been replaced by ECDSA with the secp256r1 curve. Due to this change, validation of a signed export takes more time. This can be noticed in the time it takes to make an export with signatures included, as well as in the Desk Client Player where there is an option to verify media signatures. A Desk Client version 2024 R1 or older cannot make an export with signatures on a VMS version 2024 R2 or later. Similarly, a previous version of the Desk Client Player will not be able to validate signatures on an export made with Desk Client 2024 R2 or later.

With Advance Service Reminders in the Management Client, you arm your system integrator or administrator to act proactively instead of reactively. If a Advance Service subscription is about to expire, a pop-up notification will inform the administrator once when logging into the Management Client.

MOBOTIX HUB Desk Client - New Combined media player format

The new combined media player format address the previously mentioned challenges by allowing the user to export in a new format: combined media play format. This format creates a combined file containing all exported video sequences, one after the other, in a format playable in a normal media player application on most platforms.

MOBOTIX HUB Web Client - Auto-hide the timeline in full-screen mode

You can now auto-hide the timeline when you’re in full-screen mode to maximize your display area. The timeline is automatically hidden after five seconds of inactivity.

MOBOTIX HUB Mobile Client - for Android and iOS users

On a pro map, you can now see the new alarms associated with the cameras and view the alarms’ details… This feature is only available in certain MOBOTIX HUB VMS products. See the complete feature list, which is available on the product overview page on the MOBOTIX HUB website.

Support for WinForms plugins in Desk Cleint

Desk Client plugins using WinForms will now generate a warning when compiled. Existing plugins with WinForms technology will continue to work but generate warnings at compilation time. Use of WinForms is connected to problems with the UI scaling properly at high resolutions in use with Windows scaling options.

The Desk Client now has the abillity to open multiple video tabs to enable the operator to do multiple investigations to work on evidence from different views and points in time at the same time.
Map is updated with support for output devices and the use of shape files now allows defining a separate outline color for shapes.
Optimization has been done to the login proccess when the Desk Client signs in to systems configured with MOBOTIX HUB Federated Architecture. The experience of this optimization depends on many factors and will especially be noticable with a high number of Management Servers.
You can now restore an export list even if the export job was cancelled or completed successfully. Previously, you could only restore the list if the job failed. This change allows users to re-export cameras easily if they made a mistake, such as forgetting a camera.
In the last release, we introduced Adaptive View for Export in the Desk Client Player. In this release, we have made some small improvements:

Onboarding Guide: When a user opens the Desk Client Player, they will now get a guide about Adaptive View. Users can start using it, dismiss the guide, or choose not to see it again. Their choice will be remembered on their Windows device.
Camera Limit Warning: Users will receive a warning if they try to display more than 100 cameras in Adaptive View.
Persistent Camera Settings: The changes users make to camera properties, like turning off bounding boxes, will now be saved in Adaptive View.

Web Client displays an error message when a user attempts to download a pre-prepared Investigations download package, if that user doesn't have the permissions for export for one or more cameras in the Investigation. No download link is generated, and the user can't get to the prepare packages UI.

The Bookmark preview popup is introduced to allow users to preview and interact with Bookmarks from within the Timeline and the Views tab, without having to navigate to the Bookmarks tab. When opened, the Bookmark preview popup immediately starts playing the bookmark footage and will automatically loop it back from the start if it remains open. The Add a detailed/ Edit bookmark dialogue is now redesigned with the new Timeline included. The new dialogue allows for timeline zoom to be adjusted by using the keyboard control and mouse wheel commands, as it works in Desk Client. Additionally, the brackets for selecting Bookmark Start, End and Bookmark event times have been redesigned and playback between the brackets automatically loops back to provide the user with confirmation that the selected clip between the brackets is the correct one. A new date and time picker has been introduced to the Web Client timeline. It can be accessed in Playback expanded or collapsed mode and in Live – only in collapsed timeline mode. The redesigned date and time picker will for now only be accessible from the new Timeline in Views tab and provides a better user experience regardless of whether users prefer manually typing the date they would like to navigate to on the Timeline, or if they prefer to use the calendar controls.

Deploying MOBOTIX HUB VMS products with limited permissions on the SQL server

It is now possible to use pre-created databases during installation. This allows the MOBOTIX HUB VMS products to be installed with limited SQL permissions towards a managed on-prem database, instead of the previously required system administrator privileges. This option is currently available using the command line installer. A knowledge base article on the MOBOTIX website outlines this deployment method.

In addition, the process for changing the SQL connection strings has been streamlined for the four databases that VMS services use. They now exist as separate Windows registry keys that can be changed independently. This is typically needed if one or more databases are moved to a different SQL server. The Administrator Manual describes this process.

It is now possible to use the full range of search filters of the MOBOTIX HUB System (incl. the MOBOTIX HUB Plug-Ins (search filter) in the Desk Client search.

MOBOTIX HUB Management Client device search filter

It is now possible to search for devices in the recording server tree. Searches can be made on device name and IP address. In addition, all disabled devices are by default not shown in the device tree, but they can be displayed by ticking the checkbox in the search bar.

New in MOBOTIX HUB Desk Client 2022 R3

Updated visual elements and changes – to structure and workflows of some dialogs. The menu in the upper left corner has been restructured and the Login Information, Server Jobs and Evidence Lock are now separate dialogs.

The MOBOTIX HUB Desk Client now transmits telemetric data to MOBOTIX VMS with the purpose of optimizing the product. Data collected includes data on feature usage, errors / exceptions, and system configuration. All data is sent encrypted and pseudonymized. Telemetry can be turned off from the Management Client.

Changed behavior of Independent playback in the Desk Client has been modified – to make it more usable, when using independent playback to quickly check up on something witnessed in a particular video feed. Now when entering Independent Playback from Live mode, the video will skip back 10 seconds and automatically start playing. If Independent playback is entered from playback mode, while the video is playing forward the video will similarly skip back 10 seconds, while if the video is playing backwards the video will skip forward 10 seconds. If the video is stopped Independent playback mode will be entered, but no skip will take place.

Extended support for ONVIF Profile-M metadata in Vehicle and People categories. Also, People, Vehicle and Location are now available in more products.

New in MOBOTIX HUB Web Client 2022 R3

Left pane views/ devices navigation and search – to bring the Web Client look and feel closer to the Desk client, we have renewed the Live page navigation in the Web Client to have the left pane with all views, all camera view and all cameras tree below. The left pane can be expanded and collapsed and there is also the ability to search in both the views and the devices trees. Once the user has selected what he or she were searching for, up to 7 such search items can be kept in the recent search suggestions, so that the user can more easily find frequently used views/camera feeds.

Third-party IDP login – Users can now log into their Web Client with their preferred identity provider service. This option is however only available for secure, encrypted connections. If the Mobile server does not have an encryption certificate setup, the button for third party IDP will not appear on the Web Client login page.

Toast notifications for alarms raised – when an alarm or other event is raised, now the user is prompted to go to the alarms page with a toast notification within the Web Client. Similar events are grouped in the same toast message, to preserve screen real estate. Clicking on the toast message will bring the user to the Alarms tab in the Web Client, so they can see the alarm details and respond to it.

New in MOBOTIX HUB Mobile Client 2022 R3

For Android and iOS users

Log in with an external IDP – you can log in to the MOBOTIX HUB Mobile app using an external IDP. The alternative login method allows you to bypass the required user credentials of a basic user or a Windows user and continue to be authorized to access the app.

Using biometrics or device credentials to secure the app – you can now use biometrics or your device credentials to verify your identity before you open the app. Quick authentication based on your fingerprint, face ID, or device credentials facilitates access to the MOBOTIX HUB Mobile client and improves the security of the app.

Mobile device management (MDM) – MOBOTIX HUB Mobile client now supports mobile device management (MDM). With MDM, you can manage and secure devices, apps, and data from a unified console.

New user experience – the login procedure splits into two. The server screen is now separated from the user log in screen. Users can add servers separately and then choose to enter their credentials. The new screens are user – centered and the following buttons and settings:

Go to the app settings

Removed requirement for firewall exception to allow ICMP ping to Management server from Mobile server installer. Now the Mobile server can be installed without requiring admins/ integrators to add this exception to the Management server firewall settings.

Added GDPR warning dialogue for enabling push notifications – the dialogue will appear when an admin enables Push notifications for Mobile clients to notify the user that enabling push notifications might make their installation non-GDPR compliant.
Browsers are now filtered out from the Notifications tab in the Mobile server node in Management client so that administrators will only see devices that are registered for notifications (In app and Push) and not be confused by the browser instances, as Web Client will only receive in-app notifications.

Windows support

Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 are no longer supported Windows versions.

Improved bookmark search

A new option has been added to filter bookmark search for either headline or description text. This enables fewer and more accurate search results. The default to search both.

General improvements:

Duplicated hardware in the database may block an upgrade

It is possible, but rare, that hardware devices become duplicated in the database due to an error state in previous releases. If such duplicated hardware is detected during an upgrade, then the installer will first attempt to remove duplicates that are deemed safe to remove. If this is not possible for all duplicates, then the upgrade will be terminated, and MOBOTIX technical support needs to be contacted to manually remove duplicates.

Windows support

Windows Server 2022 is now supported. Support for Windows 8.1 has been removed.

The management server address must be a URL rather than a machine name. This gives users the ability to change the communication protocol (http vs. https) and non-default ports during installation in a very simple and intuitive way.
When installing individual components, the correct communication protocol (https vs. http) must be specified. Single components must be specified. For example, if a recording server is installed separately from the management server. management server is installed and the management server accepts only secure communication, then an https address must be specified when installing the recording server installation. Using insecure http communication during installation is not allowed in this case. This prevents security misconfigurations of the VMS.
It is mandatory to select a certificate during the installation of a separate, standalone component if the management server is set up to accept only secure communication. For example, if a recording server is installed separately from the management server, and the management server accepts only secure communications, encryption cannot be disabled during the installation of the recording server, and a certificate must be provided to encrypt the communications.
During the upgrade of a standalone component, it is no longer possible to change the address of the management server. Change management server address to connect the component to another VMS. If you uninstall the component Uninstall and reinstall the component, you can specify a different management server address and thus connect the component to a different VMS connect the component to a different VMS.
All MOBOTIX HUB VMS standalone components installed on the same computer must connect to the same management server. For example, it is no longer possible to have a recording server running on Management Server "A" on the same computer as an event server running on Management Server "B".

Audit logs created by the Identity Provider in the VMS are now accessible in the Management Client under the Audit logs tab
Improved GDPR support
The VMS will now display a warning message when certain retention times are set to values longer than the product’s default values. This helps the VMS administrator to be aware of potential GDPR issues for data that could contain personal information. The retention times in question are alarms, video, audio, metadata as well as audit logs.
The settings for Pro Maps are all set to unavailable for new installations, and a warning of potential GDPR issues shown when the administrator changes these.

Improvements in the Recording Server

Behavioral after uncontrolled shutdown

Changes have been made in the Recording Server and the media database to reduce startup time after an uncontrolled shutdown of the service. Previously a directory scan was needed to rebuild information about tables in the media database.

This has been changed by introducing a small SQL database containing information about all the tables. Table information can be restored from this database in most cases after an uncontrolled shutdown. The small SQL database is implemented using SQLite and no additional components are needed on the Re-cording Server. The SQLite database files are stored in %PROGRAMDATA%\MOBOTIX HUB and it is recommended that this folder is excluded from anti-virus scanning.

Left panel and other places now use different icons to make it possible to differentiate fixed cameras from PTZ cameras.
Camera and view lists
Camera list and views list in left panel now allows horizontal scroll using SHIFT + mouse scroll wheel, to make it quicker to read long camera or view names.
Export

Default exports options are now set in Desk Client profiles to use MOBOTIX HUB format option by default, as this is the recommendation to use.
For AVI exports, if enabling this, the default is now set to mkv as this results in smaller file sizes.
For new installations these settings are locked per default in Desk Client settings. In order for the Desk Client operator to change these, the Administrator must create a new profile or change the default Desk Client Profile

Views
The Camera Navigator view item and Desk Client Simple Mode have been removed.

XProtect LPR

MOBOTIX HUB LPR 2021 R1 introduces these new country modules

In the current LPR implementation, the performance of an individual LPR server is affected by the number of active country modules installed on the individual LPR server. For the region of Europe, MOBOTIX' unofficial recommendation is to not activate more than five country modules per LPR Server to maintain system performance. In other regions, such as the Middle East region, this recommendation does not apply.

In use cases where recognition of vehicles from a wide set of countries is required, for example boarder control, it is recommended to use the generic modules, such as the EU Generic Module. These modules are specialized in recognizing the most common types of license plates across the various EU countries.

To cover countries that are not covered by the EU Generic Module, we have now created an Eastern Europe Generic Module which covers an additional nine countries:

Kosovo
Montenegro
Belarus
Macedonia
Russia
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Moldova
Serbia

Resolved issues

Active Directory Synchronization

Since the MOBOTIX HUB release 2020 R3 it has been identified that synchronization between AD and the VMS did not correctly resolve nesting of user groups across different domains. In 2021 R2 those issues have been fixed and resolving user groups now works across all the domains under transitive trust relationship. For all non-transitive trusts the process will only resolve members of the trusted domain.

Known Limitations

The following limitations currently apply to version 2021 R2.

"Force basic user to change password on next login

The user will be redirected to a change password page when he or she tries to login the first time. Rules for password complexity can be configured by the HUB system administrator.
If a user forgets his or her password, then the HUB system administrator can set a new temporary password, again selecting the "Force basic user to change password on next login" checkbox.
A user can change his or her password at any time by clicking the Change Password link in the client login dialog. This is available in all clients. The administrator does not have access to a password set by the user.
A user will be temporarily locked out if the wrong password given more than N login attempts.
The HUB system administrator can lock a user account by changing the Status field on the basic user from Active to Locked. The administrator can also unlock a user account by setting status to Active.

When logging into a MOBOTIX HUB system, you may see a warning stating that the system is not secure. Because this release is about securing the communication between system components, the client applications consider any system without a certificate non-secure. This also includes any previous version, for example if you are using the latest version of MOBOTIX HUB Desk Client with a previous version of the MOBOTIX HUB system

Device firmware update using the Management Client

The single firmware update is available for all MOBOTIX HUB products.
Bulk firmware update is available only for MOBOTIX HUB L4 and MOBOTIX HUB L5.
Supported drivers are Axis, Bosch, Hanwha and ONVIF.

Note: This feature also depends on the current firmware version of the device. Some old versions do not support a firmware update from MOBOTIX HUB.

Pro Map improvements

Media database repair improvements

By moving detailed information from low-level index files to higher-level files, we have limited the number of files we need to read to repair the database, thereby significantly reducing the repair time. The time saved depends on the size of the database and the location where the files are located, but we saved up to 50% time in our tests.

A media database on a local disk with 100,000 corrupted tables showed the following results:

2021 R1: 884 seconds

General changes

Prior to MOBOTIX HUB 2021 R1, when changing the hostname of the computer running the Management Server, the Management Server was not able to start again. The Management Server and any other components running on that machine could be fixed manually or by reinstalling the system. Starting from the 2021 R1 product release, all servers running on a computer that got a new hostname can be re-configured by doing a registration using the Server Configurator.
Server Configurator is now backwards compatible. Since there is only one Server Configurator installed on a machine, the Server Configurator needs to be able to handle all versions of installed components. We do not support the case in which an older component is installed on top of newer components. Hence, it is ensured that the Server Configurator is always the same version or newer than the other components on the machine.

Changes in the MOBOTIX HUB Management Client

System monitor now shows the status for failover recording servers. If the failover server has issues with SSL due to certificate problems or it cannot authorize with the authorization server, that is shown in system monitor.
The generic de-warping feature has been expanded with an option to specify the appropriate degrees for the device’s horizontal field of view (FOV). This enables an improved de-warping experience for a wider range of devices. The default FOV has been changed to 180 degrees.
There is a new tab, Remote Recorder, in the Management Client for configuring credentials for connections to a remote recorder device. Such devices can be used as an edge storage for a group of cameras. Currently this option is only implemented for the Axis Video Recorder S3008.
The Menu bar has been changed. The Edit menu has been removed and a new menu Maintenance has been added.
An IP version filter has been added in Express scan result screen in the Add Hardware dialog. This makes it possible to distinguish IPv6 addresses from IPv4 addresses of the same device. By default, only IPv4 addresses are shown.
A new time rule is available that can run specifically when in failover, or not in failover. This makes it possible to lower the resolution and frame rate when running on a failover recording server. The rule is not limited to changing these two settings but can be used for general changes as most other rules.

Changes in the MOBOTIX HUB Web Client

In this application, the functions have been improved:

Encryption options have been added to export of investigations results.
Digital signing now happens automatically when exporting video.
Audio permissions are now requested upon microphone usage.
One time export: the Export Investigations link usage has been limited to one time download. The export link expires after the first download (in previous versions it did not expire).
Investigation retention time added, and investigations are automatically deleted after this time expires.

Driver improvements for MOBOTIX IoT cameras

The IoT cameras are now also found on the network and integrated into the system if only the HTTPS protocol, without additional HTTP, is activated on them.

Dynamic events

After the integration of MOBOTIX cameras of the series MOBOTIX 7, Mx6 and P3 via a device-specific MOBOTIX driver (selection from Mobotix M/D/V/S series, Mobotix Q*, Mobotix T*), events of these cameras from the following event groups can also be defined in the HUB Management Client for these cameras as ("dynamic") events:

The events defined in the MOBOTIX HUB can then be used in Rules and Alarms, for example to start recording through the HUB Recording Server.

In the MOBOTIX HUB variants L4 and L5, the HUB Desk Client Search dialog allows to search for recordings of such events by entering MOBOTIX IoT Events as a search filter.

Note: This special search function of the Desk Client requires a MOBOTIX HUB variant L4 or L5..

In order for the events of a MOBOTIX IoT camera to be used as "dynamic events"

in the MOBOTIX HUB, the following preparations are necessary on the IoT camera before inserting it into MOBOTIX HUB:

Activation of the general Arming
Configuration of the desired Event
Activation of the camera-internal Recording as Event Recording (e.B. with recording time 2s and recording frame rate 1 fps)

Analytics Events from MOBOTIX 7 Cameras

After integrating a camera from the MOBOTIX 7 model series via a device-specific MOBOTIX driver (selection Mobotix M/D/V/S series), events of a Vaxtor LPR App activated on the camera for the detection of license plates, can be defined as Analytics Events in the MOBOTIX HUB and can also be used within Rules and Alarms, e.g. to start a recording.

In order for the events of the Vaxtor LPR App to be used in the HUB, the following settings must be made in the Milestone section of the Vaxtor LPR Settings dialog to configure the App:

URL: <IP address of the MOBOTIX HUB Management Server>:<Port-Nummer>
Camera Name: <IP address of the camera or camera name as defined in the HUB>

After integrating a camera configured in this way, the corresponding Analytics Event can then be activated in the HUB Management Client as follows:

Activation of the Analytics Events in the dialog Tools -> options
The same port number must be used as in the camera configuration in the URL field (see above).
Add an Analytics Event named VaxALPR On Camera Event in the Rules and Events > Analytics Events section in the HUB Management Client's tree structure.

Then, this Analytics Event can be used just like any other event within Rules and Alarms.

After installing an extension of the HUB Desk Client using the installation file 'MOBOTIX_HUB_Plug-Ins_2020_R3_Installer.exe', the Search dialog of the Desk Client then displays an additional search area VaxALPR, which allows the search for a specific licence plate recognized by the app. By displaying this search area multiple times, it is also possible to search for several licence plates at the same time.

Note: This special search function of the Desk Client requires a MOBOTIX HUB variant L4 or L5..

Known Limitations

The following limitations currently apply to version 2020 R3.
