The Rodenborch College in Rosmalen has started school year 2022-2023 in a new building with modern technical installations. Smart cameras are part of this to monitor all risk zones and personal property in a discreet manner. Leon van Loon, advisor new construction for the OMO Scholengroep and Edwin van der Rijsen, director of Cor van Raay Electrical Engineering, share their experiences.

Challenge: feeling safe and free to be yourself

The Rodenborch College in Rosmalen is a secondary school for pre-university education, havo and mavo. It is also an official Top Sport Talent School and they offer High School Sport and High School Dance. This school is part of the Vereniging Ons Middelbaar Onderwijs, from Tilburg. At Rodenborch College, they find it important that the approximately 2,300 students experience their school as a safe environment where they feel free to be themselves. Since July 2022, Rodenborch College has been housed in a new sustainable building, with an area of approximately 19.000 m² and modern technical installations. Due to the positive experiences at three other OMO schools , the new building of the Rodenborch College is also equipped with a MOBOTIX solution for camera surveillance, supplied by Cor van Raay Elektrotechniek.

Solution: camera surveillance with focus on risk zones

“The Rodenborch College is an open school with transparent classrooms and pleasant squares, where students can be themselves as much as possible,” says van Loon. “To prevent unwanted behavior and protect everyone’s personal property, we have installed a smart camera surveillance solution focused on risk zones. By this I mean that all lockers of students, corridors, meeting areas and outdoor environment are monitored in a discreet manner. The main requirements for this were quality, flexibility and service. MOBOTIX performs best in these areas, thanks to a high image quality and the extreme flexibility of their modular cameras and associated software. As an organization uses more cameras, the free video management software and all updates significantly reduce the total cost during the lifetime.”

Experiences: flexibility and service

“The flexibility of MOBOTIX comes in handy in practice by being able to easily exchange day and night lenses, adding an infrared sensor and more software, for example,” adds van der Rijsen. “With the many apps of the MOBOTIX 7 platform, you can easily adapt already installed cameras to new applications over the years, including facial and license plate recognition. We have equipped Rodenborch College with many dozens of P26 and M73 cameras and a few V26s, which are centrally managed via the MxManagementCenter software”. “Two other important reasons for choosing MOBOTIX cameras again are the proven years of trouble-free operation, while they require hardly any maintenance and good service by Cor van Raay Elektrotechniek”, concludes van Loon.
